It really gets tedious in some of the last chapters and bugs and glitches become common, which is strange as the first half was incredible and nearly on par with Mass Effect. Regardless, this is a really good adventure worth your time, and far superior to any junk Marvel/avenger type hero movies out. It is cheerful, with great music, lovable characters with some laugh-out-loud moments with some beautiful scenery. It is a shame it was so close to something really special! But maybe in the sequel?
Unplayable because of broken HDR. The issue seems to be very well known with full of redit (and elswhere) posts but no fix is coming ever.

The reason for my low rating is the inexcusable bug that prevents my Xbox Core Wireless Controller from working in wireless Bluetooth mode. When connected via a USB-C cable it functions perfectly. I didn't pay $54+ dollars for a genuine Microsoft wireless controller to have it only work in wired mode! This is on the developers. You mean to tell me they didn't know about this bug when the game was released? I find that extremely difficult to believe. Glad I didn't actually pay full price for the game since it was offered on the MS "Game Pass" service.

This game has zero microtransactions. Everything is unlockable (there is a couple of outfits extra in the deluxe edition, which I would say are worth getting the deluxe for but hardly essential.)But also this is just a really great game especially for fans of the GOTG, it's more in line with the comic books, than the movies story wise but even then has its own take own take on origins etc. The soundtrack is epic, you have a great selection of licensed 80's classics, a great new album made for the game by a band called Star Lord and a great original score. Some may get disappointed you can only directly control Star Lord but I think that makes sense gameplay wise, as you get to control when the other guardians use their special abilities,.In some ways it's a lot like Mass Effect but not really an RPG so not quite, just a real fun third person action adventure game in space. A bunch of amazing Marvel Easter eggs and even non Marvel references. Like a Chewbacca figure for example.I highly recommend it.

I liked the marvel's movie about guardians, but the game is even better sometimes. There are small tech failures, but i guess because i played on my ps4 slim
The story is entertaining, and it features characters from the Marvel universe that haven't yet surfaced in the movies, such as Fin Fang Foom, Lady Hellbender and the Nova Corps. Add in the requisite humor and self-deprecation and an eclectic killer soundtrack, and you get one of the most enjoyable games of the year.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a great game. I would like to give it top marks, but in spite of all the good design elements, cool soundtrack, and very good dialogue and voice acting, the Switch’s cloud version connection issues are a problem I can’t just overlook.

To start the with, this is the best looking game I’ve ever seen. Like a Pixar movie but more realistic. Just stunning detail in every location and fantastic art direction. They really topped the movie in this regard. The voice acting is superb and I actually prefer the game’s actors to some of the movie actors. Most of the performances provide so much depth to the characters and give you the ‘feels’ or make you laugh when intended. The pacing of the story and variety of the gameplay is top notch. They strike the perfect balance between gameplay and story moments. One moment, you’re competing with Rocket to see who can blast the most space worms and the next you’re flying the Milano in a daring escape sequence. All of this is accompanied by hilarious banter from your team. You get to make meaningful decisions throughout the game giving it great replay value. It is cool to feel like you have some agency in the way the story progresses and these story sequences feel very Mass Effect in their execution. I can’t think of much higher praise for a game’s narrative than that. The combat is enjoyable and challenging if you have the difficulty on we can do this or above. They do have an easy setting which you have to appreciate in a game that has a focus on it’s story. This would be perfect for inexperienced gamers or someone who is just there for the story. All of the the soundtracks are phenomenal. There is an orchestral OST, a mix of 70s and 80s rock, synth wave, and disco, and they even formed a band called Star Lord with an entire album full of Iron Maiden-esque tracks just for this game. You get to select what you want to listen to while on the Milano which really makes your time there more enjoyable.I feel like this game got slept on, which is a shame. It is well worth the asking price and should be on your radar, especially if you have a high powered PC. It is well worth full price even if you only use it for benchmarking or showing off your new setup to friends and family. It will certainly justify that shiny new graphics card that you paid a small fortune for. My wife and I played through on PC and I will admit, you do need a monster system to turn on all the graphical bells and whistles. I can’t speak to the graphics quality on consoles so your mileage may vary there. We encountered very few bugs aside from some mild texture weirdness here and there. Nothing game breaking and zero crashes. We played primarily on my wife’s laptop. It has a 5900HX and an RTX 3070 which I believe is the higher power version. At 1440P, it stayed above 60 FPS most of the time. The lowest I saw was 45 and average was about 75. No weird hitching or stutters. We had the newest drivers installed. If you like the comics, or the movies, this is a must buy. If you are a Mass Effect fan, this is a must buy. This is not some cheap license cash in or micro transaction laden game as a service. It is a game that was obviously lovingly crafted and a stellar single player experience.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy could’ve easily ended up being a lacklustre attempt at recreating what makes this group of oddballs so endearing to the Marvel community, but that’s not the case. The acting is top drawer, with a script in place that can make you laugh one minute and bring a tear to your eye the next.

It´s incredible well written story really fits the template of the comics, including characters, atmosphere and humor - all served without any microtransactions! Yet, there´s a little too much idle in many moments of the gameplay to push the game in higher spheres. But if you´re in for a more than solid experience - no matter if you´re already familiar witht the franchise or not - then Marvel´s Guardians of the Galaxy is a really good choice.

I enjoyed the traversing and problem solving, dealing with waves of bullet sponges, not so much…That’s being said, marvels guardians of the galaxy is a crazy goofy adevnute, there are great action pieces here.. the world is fun to get around, the writing is hilarious at times, and I loved the incorporation of 80s music,The game does overstay its welcome for somone not really a fan of the IP, but this is still a great game to run throughI give Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxyan 8/10
While there is a great game somewhere in here, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cloud Version has many, baffling issues seemingly exclusive to this version. On top of not being comparable to other console versions, it somehow performs even worse to the point of being almost unplayable most of the time. As usual, your results may vary depending on internet connection, but this version still needs a lot of work.
I genuinely enjoyed my time with Guardians of the Galaxy, but I couldn’t bring myself to continue playing the mess that it is on Switch. While my high-speed internet connection should be easily able to run this game smoothly, it is clear that this version was an afterthought. The characters, story, music, and gameplay are all completely up my alley, but having to play the game in this sluggish way—and of course having to play via an internet connection—made for quite a miserable experience. I’m 100% I will pick up Guardians of the Galaxy somewhere down the road, but the Cloud Version should be skipped by anyone even remotely interested in what’s on offer here.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cloud Version presents an enjoyable and original story with excellent writing and vocal performances, adding up to a narrative that is both comedic and surprisingly heartfelt. A meaty but meaningfully varied campaign introduces fun locations and surprises for Marvel fans, and it’s backed up by a killer '80s soundtrack. Combat makes clever use of synergizing the team’s abilities as well. However, that combat doesn’t evolve enough throughout the story to maintain its appeal. And on Switch specifically, technical performance issues stemming from cloud streaming make this the worst version of the game to play.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is for the most part a very enjoyable experience. A pure singleplayer title with a beefy campaign (at least 15-20 hours), smart and quality writing, great presentation and faithfulness to the universe it translates to game form.

So expect no ray tracing etc. The game maintains a steady framerate but there is a lot of clunkyness in the underbelly.Sound is probably the best the game has to offer, from the sword slices to the blasters but mostly from the dialogue. The game realises what the average marvel fan wants - their characters talking and it does it brilliantly. It's still pretty bugged all the way through though. It just needed a couple months to iron them out, so a lot of time you'll be "load last checkpoint" to fix them. Quality control in 2020-2021 has severally fallen. So star lord will get stuck in debris, icons or UI will get stuck on screen, some events (mist puzzle solution) may not work as intended and your left with no option to move forward than load last checkpoint. On the PS5 one collectable is impossible to get with the correct developer way. You move toward a ledge and are stuck in a forever move back and forward along the same ledge. You can't escape the loop.Don't go near the ledge to walk across at all or it'll bug out. Go to the far left and just jump boot across, the plants look as if you'll fall through them, but there's enough to just hop across without actually landing properly at the other side to collect it.Some trophies may also look a lot like RNG but there's a trick to them, and they're not as hard to pull of as you think. Drax and the inquisitor for example. don't overthink it. Don't use special powers, switch difficulty to easy. and just use blasters. Takes a little time still but on the second health bar out of nowhere the Triangle will show up. Honestly the game is full of little nuances that'll annoy you the more you play. The game also has more filler than you'll find in most games (you will do a lot of walking, where you are unable to run). Filler like the brain maze, or the drax mind maze... just to lengthen the game time (there is a lot of that, some of it isn't bad though, it's just more obvious the second time you play it). Also has more sliding down chute sections that would make tomb raider blush. It even has a part where it feels as if it was ripped out of Mass Effect 2, you'll know it when you see it. It involves a moving platform. Also none of the choices you make really matter; it's not a true interactive experience. Feels mostly as if they wanted to do more with it but time restraints just make it feel false and empty. You lose nothing, you gain nothing. Linear is there to stay. So just enjoy what choice you want; don't overthink it.Guardians of the Galaxy takes elements from many different games to create a very generic single player experience. Without the dialogue, the music, and character interactions. It'd be maybe a 5. hollow clunky repetitive with a few throwaway take control of the ship experience. But hey no microtransactions, and you don't have to pay for "new outfits" as they are back to being collectable things in the game. And there is a new game plus in case you missed anything. (you can't skip cutscenes, and can only skip some parts of the dialogue though).Overall it's a fun game, and it's good. It's not perfect, and certainly has its share of bugs. But it's a slightly better Marvel Avengers although the overall storyline is still on par with it. Again. no online item level mumbo jumbo and no microtransactions. (that cannot be mentioned enough).

Guardians of the Galaxy shines when it focuses on the characters and the world around them. It might not be the most innovative game this year, but it excellently executes the tried-and-true linear action-adventure formula to deliver a great single-player experience.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is a great game, a fun and colourful adventure full of excellent writing, brilliant acting and plenty of wacky action and exploration to dig into. However, this Switch cloud version renders pretty much any praise we could lavish upon it entirely inconsequential as it serves up a truly messy, laggy and unreliable experience — even when played via our super solid, ultra fast internet connection. It is, in short, a disastrous and ridiculously expensive way to play through a game that deserves so much better. Pick this one up on another platform if you can and steer well clear of this mess.

With its endearing characters and effective humor, Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the pleasant surprises of the end of the year, which is obviously aimed at a very large audience. Behind this careful writing, we feel a deep love on the part of the developers of Eidos Montreal for its marginalized space. And if the adventure is not as epic as we hoped, the journey is nonetheless pleasant with its moments of complicity and the many choices offered which reinforce the player's involvement. A truly attractive journey, in particular thanks to an efficient and fluid combat system which nevertheless shows its limits at the end of the game and against the bosses. Finally, it is more on its visual part that the title can divide. If we find on the one hand original environments and neat character models, we also note the presence of less convincing facial animations in places and sometimes less fine landscapes. It is nonetheless a gripping adventure alongside the galaxy's greatest magnificent losers that has plenty to please MCU fans.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a fun game, very well-planned, with great narrative and strong ambitions to entertain the player. Star-Lord's interaction with the Milano crew and the rest of the characters is magical. Combat and physics can be problematic, but the errors don't overshadow the positives. Even the Latin American dubbing is a delight that you are sure to enjoy.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy surprises with a remarkable, true and emotional story with excellent performances, all in a unique graphic style, full of effects and color that give strength to the game and above all to its message. The gameplay is not at the level of everything else that is presented, but that doesn't make it a truly negative element. An ode to books, movies and fans, with a team that goes back to giving it all, something that the player won't forget, taking us to moments of laughter and sadness like no other Marvel game has ever done.
I cannot recommend playing Marvel's Guardians enough for the experience it provides. Its decision to focus on story, characters, and ambiance instead of trying to throw in a bunch of content that pads the adventure results in an amazing game. It is right up there with the Arkham Trilogy and Marvel's Spider-Man as one of the best superhero video games of all time.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is a great portrayal of the space-faring heroes and a good game. We encountered some annoying bugs that are hopefully alleviated with patches, and it's pretty linear, but this is an interstellar romp that you can enjoy across a few evenings.
I suppose we can now venture into the old “is Guardians worth $60?” debate. If you miss hyper linear story games with no live service BS, and are a big Marvel fan, then this might be the game for you. If you are hoping for Devil May Cry level combat and God of War type puzzles and exploration within a linear story, you will be disappointed. But I can safely say this is probably a better end product than most people were expecting, and that alone is a pretty big win for a game that felt like a bit of a risk and like it’s been lacking in buzz leading up to launch here. It has issues, but it gets a lot right, and pushes storytelling in ways I haven’t seen in this genre before.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is a good game that wants to be, in Peter Quill's words, metal. It doesn't quite reach that mark, but compared to other recent Marvel video games that aren't Spider-Man, it succeeds more often than it fails. If you've liked other incarnations of the team's lovable misfits and misanthropes, you'll like what the developers have done here. And even if you're only somewhat aware of its Marvel background, there's a lot to love already here that a fresh coat of bug-fixing polish will only make better.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was a surprising experience. Though the game still has some bugs, and a few undesirable features, it comes packed with in-depth characters and an extensive storyline. If you have time to go for a very long virtual walk, this might be the game for you.
By dodging the eager game-as-service guff, Guardians of the Galaxy can focus on being something more compelling - even if you won’t play it for as long. For its ten-plus hour runtime, you’ll enjoy a thrilling, gripping, funny, and surprisingly heartfelt adventure. The game built around that narrative framework isn’t earth shattering - but it is enough scaffolding to allow the story to shine. You have to understand what Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is going into - but if you do, one of the finest narrative games of the year awaits. Switch your brain off, give yourself over to its story, and you’ll find much to enjoy.
With its exciting story and characters, the next-gen worthy visuals and especially the great sense of humor we can warmly recommend Eidos Montreal's Guardians of the Galaxy not just for fans of the franchise. Just the fights are a little bit too chaotic for getting a strong feeling of control on the battlefields in sum.
While it has one or two irksome flaws, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is, nonetheless, a fine solo experience, with characters that you'll enjoy spending time with, fast-paced combat, and an engaging original story.
There’s no cash-in on the overall success of the MCU here, or on the Guardians of the Galaxy movies in a standalone sense. This is a pure videogame born from the paper and ink flesh of the comics before it, imagined as an interactive slice of the IP’s universe. And it absolutely works. The action-RPG lite approach was conclusively the right decision to make, which allows the game’s absolute strength: its story and characterisation, to truly stand out. This is a surprise hit for me, and one of the most enjoyable games from a written and performed perspective you’ll play this year.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy offers an excellent linear single player experience. With a great artistic design, a fun combat system and an outstanding script, this new title by Eidos Montreal will greatly satisfy any fan of narrative-focused games. Yes, some aspects like its animations are not up to par, but it doesn't impact its final result. We had a huge smile all the way through this fun game, enjoying its dialogues, its combat and sinking in its marvelous setting. And that's the most important thing to us.
For superhero games in particular, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is a breath of fresh air that demonstrates just how much fun, and how innovative, single-player games remain.
More than a mainstream game for fans, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is a real hit that wasn't expected. Of course, being a fan of Star Lord and Rocket's humour will help you enjoy the game, but the single-player adventure offered by Eidos Montreal can suit anyone who likes the genre. A successful art direction, a pleasing energy, omnipresent dialogues and music plus dynamic fights make this new title an explosive condensation of good things succeeding in making us forget the few negative points such as a certain slowness in some chapters and the impossibility to embody the other guardians.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is a highly enjoyable action/adventure romp that never strays from the beaten path. You won't find any major experiments or innovations here, but you will experience a great adaptation of the beloved dysfunctional team of galactic superheroes. The story and characters are well written, the combat is fun (if perhaps a bit too easy), and the audio is excellent.
The plot meanders and the game is somewhat too long, but it's still a great time and well worth experiencing for Guardians fans.
Guardians of the Galaxy is a solid single-player game with a strongstory, the combat however is in desperate need of more fine-tuning.
