Square Enix has released version 1.5.0 of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, delivering one of the most-requested post-launch features - New Game+ - alongside a suite of quality-of-life additions and expanded language support. The patch is live now on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

New Game+ and Zodiac Compatibility

The headline addition is New Game+, which lets players start a fresh run carrying over unit levels, item data, and other progress from a completed playthrough. Alongside it, Square Enix has introduced a Zodiac Compatibility function: each unit's zodiac sign and compatibility can now be checked directly from its status screen, restoring a mechanic that longtime fans will remember from the 1997 original.

Quality-of-Life Adjustments

The 1.5.0 patch rounds out its changelog with several practical improvements to the in-battle experience:

Remove All Equipment New option in Equipment & Abilities section
Job unlock clarity Locked jobs now show their unlock conditions on the job screen

  • Ability Incantations Guaranteed - ensures voiced ability dialogue always plays.
  • Ability Cursor Memory - retains cursor position in the battle menu's Abilities section.

Minor text changes, sound effect tweaks, and general stability improvements are also included in the patch.

Language Expansion

Version 1.5.0 adds text support for Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean in the enhanced version of the game. Players can switch the enhanced text language via General Settings > Language > Text Language (Enhanced).

Context

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles was developed and published by Square Enix, first releasing on September 30, 2025. The game launched across PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The remaster surpassed 1 million sales roughly three months after launch, a milestone that director Kazutoyo Maehiro cited as motivation to keep the updates coming. Maehiro said the team is "taking this positive reception as motivation to continue considering future updates to make the game even more enjoyable and accessible to an even wider audience."

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is available now, with the best current deal sitting at CA$35.15 - check the live price table above for the latest offers across all storefronts.

With New Game+ now in place and language support broadened, update 1.5.0 represents the meatiest content drop The Ivalice Chronicles has seen since launch. Players who burned through Ramza's story at release have a good reason to return to Ivalice - and those yet to start now have a fuller package to jump into.
