Goblin Cleanup, the co-op dungeon-cleaning sim currently in Steam Early Access, is heading to consoles - including the Nintendo Switch 2 - publisher Team17 and developer Crisalu Games announced this week. The console version is expected to arrive in 2027, aligning with the game's planned full release window.

What Is Goblin Cleanup?

In Goblin Cleanup, players take on the role of a professional cleaner hired by the dungeon manager to clean and prepare the dungeon for the next adventure - a co-op cleaning game where you have to clean and rearrange a dungeon before the next adventurers come to complete it again.

Currently in Steam Early Access ahead of a full launch in 2027, Goblin Cleanup combines creative, chaotic co-op gameplay for up to four players. After customising their cleaning goblins, players enter the manky mazes, mop up muck and viscera, avoid falling victim to the many still-active traps, refill treasure chests, and reset the area ready for the next hapless, sword-swinging victims.

The game's core tasks cover a surprising range of dungeon-maintenance duties:

Task Description
Clean Remove blood and slime using the Slimop, mimic, and slime dispenser
Restore Objects Return items to their original dungeon positions
Restore Traps Reactivate traps - watch out for ones still armed
Creatures Respawn creatures and dispose of remains
Loot Refill chests with items
A dungeon hallway with reset traps, restocked chests, and freshly mopped stone floors illuminated by dim candlelight

Early Access Progress

The game entered Steam Early Access on September 18, 2025, developed by Crisalu Games and rated PEGI 16. It is published by Team17.

The Early Access period has been active. The Runed It! update introduced a new rune system that provides players with various effect modifiers - both positive and negative - to experiment with, together with Mimic customisation and further goblin cosmetics. Team17 and Crisalu Games have also introduced the first boss to the game: named by one of the game's original Kickstarter backers as a tier reward, "Dungeon Daddy" completes Goblin Cleanup's first dungeon and challenges the cleaners to defeat him before the doors open on the second.

On Steam, the game currently holds a Very Positive rating, with 88% of 1,559 user reviews being positive.

2027 is set to host the game's full release, which means more levels, a hardcore mode, staff room customisation, and more.

Switch 2 Console Announcement

The Nintendo Switch 2 console trailer was released alongside the announcement, marking the first time the game has been confirmed for a Nintendo platform. No specific Switch 2 launch date has been given beyond the 2027 full-release target.

Crisalu Games was founded by three friends - senior gameplay programmer Santiago Arriazu, senior technical artist/programmer Cristian Trinidad Lima, and senior 3D artist Lucas Rollano. Team17 has an extensive portfolio of over 150 titles, including DREDGE, Overcooked!, and the iconic Worms franchise.
