Last Word Reviews & Ratings
An interesting JRPG-like that uses word instead of fighting. It's definitely fun and original, even without ever really hitting the right spot. With a deeper system it could have been great.
Last Word is a game I would recommend to try out even just for novelty purposes; it's certainly an interesting enough experience to while away an afternoon or evening.
Last Word is a brilliant application of role playing mechanics in a refreshing context, but from a word fight game, we expected wittier dialogues and more likeable characters.
It isn’t exactly easy to pick up, but the layered Discourse system in Last Word is worth the few verbal jabs and hooks needed in order to master it.
Last Word certainly stands out from the multitude of other JRPGs in terms of style and a few unique mechanics, but ultimately falls short where it should have been strongest — dialogue.
