It's graphics are great but the gameplay is completely unclear to me and even though i managed to complete the first 6 levels i am not able too tell anybody how these completely not great controls should work. It's a good idea but a very bad execution.

Simple, but fun gameplay mechanics, appealing graphics, realistic physics make Snake Pass an enjoyable experimental 3D platformer. It needs a little bit more work to become a game, though.

It’s an enjoyable game that will win the hearts of children, but it’s far from breathtaking – it’s short and lacks a spark (e.g. a protagonist that is not only cute but also charismatic) that would make it memorable.

This was by far the biggest flaw, but, on the gameplay itself (which is largely based on novel controls, while the originality of it can only be praised and it deserves that, to be frank it's not the most exciting thing ever, it would appeal to some people for sure but for my personal taste and I guess a lot of people's it's going to get old within a few levels.

By putting players in the role of a snake, Snake Pass delivers a warm, charming and colorful adventure. The gameplay is unique and the controls are very original though a little difficult to get used to. Snake pass might be short and challenging through the end, but it’s an experience that you won’t forget any time soon.

The controls are intriguing enough to hook a player in and it’s quite fun to embrace the elementary mastery of them once they’ve become second nature and platforming through formidable-looking obstacle courses is a breeze. Plus, relaxedly exploring the 15 stages for collectibles (20 wisps and 5 coins per level) is made more enjoyable by the charming, bright design and chilled out tunes that accompany it, which is all it really aims to be – a laid back game that shows off a new angle for a bit of fun. No real replayability after the few collectibles or big skill wall to overcome, or even any kind of lesson to learn, but instead to almost act as a kind of sandbox for a new type of control system and whilst it could have been built on, it does do what is set out to do, just a bit lazily.

Snake Pass is a fun game with original control. A platforms game that remind us the times when the important thing was go through levels and get collectibles. Maybe it's short, but it's different and entertaining. A good game for the old Rare games and the Nintendo 64 fans.

In most platformers, the running and jumping – the movement – is a huge part of the fun. It makes you feel skilled. In Snake Pass, movement amounts to a big fat ball of stress over which I rarely felt like I had firm control. Or at least that was my experience. And that makes it hard to recommend – certainly for the kids towards which it seems to be aimed, and even for die-hard 3D platformer fans.

Snake Pass is a modern attempt to rekindle 3D platforming fun in an intelligent way. Instead of falling back on all the old tropes (and problems), players are presented with a protagonist which totally changes up the nature of platforming. Each stage only requires three objects to collect, meaning folks need not dread yet another collectathon. On the other hand, those who look to 100% complete games can enjoy reaching out for the tougher coins. There’s something left to be desired with the general lack of storyline, but fortunately the gameplay is excellent enough to make up for it. Even after finishing the game you’ll likely want to go back and perfect your performances because the gameplay is just that refreshing.

Snake Pass is a difficult game to wholeheartedly recommend. It’s simply going to be too frustrating for some, all boiling down to a finger knotting control scheme. Forge ahead with it and you will be rewarded however. Snake Pass is an unashamed blast from the past that also strives to innovate on tried and trusted concepts. Its core concept is fundamentally flawed, stripping the player of control rather than empowering, but Sumo has found a way to use this to its strength.

I knew it would be fun, but I didn't realise how much it would grab me. The main appeal is mastering the movement of your character, a happy snake that moves and behaves - physically - like a snake. It's not just a novelty, it's core to the why the game works. Climbing a bamboo frame, hanging over a precipitous drop to collect that coin is hair-raising stuff, especially as you have to safely make your way back to land again before it really counts (there's a checkpointing system). It's compelling! It does take a while to master the snake's more challenging movement, no doubt, but once you do the entire game opens up and feels hugely satisfying in a way that traditional platformers do not. With 16 levels of increasing size and difficulty, plus lots of non-essential collectibles to grab, the game will keep you going for many hours. Oh, and the music by David Wise is worth the asking price alone.

It achieved its design aims brilliantly , it's truly unique, it's delightful, and it's going to require all of your skill to beat it. It deserves classic status.A gamepad is required to enjoy this game fully. It's the first time in a long time that I've seen a game reinvent the way stick controllers work. The most recent one I can think of was Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, which used the twin sticks to control two characters at once, or perhaps Grow Home/Grow Up's use of the triggers to represent its climbing robot's hands. Snake Pass translates the real movements of a snake to the controller in a remarkably accurate way. If you want to move extra fast, you'll need to move left and right to generate the S-shaped movement. If you want to climb, you'll need to coil around an object, grip it, and keep spiralling your way upwards. It requires a constant handover of energy, as you learn when to grip and when to let go, when to raise yourself by craning your neck and when to swing your heavy head with gravity to throw it forwards instead.Snake Pass is a radically different take on platformers. It's also a physics puzzle, underneath it all. It's also a collect-a-thon, but not in the usual sense. Each object is more like a target you need to reach. Many of them look impossible at first, but you figure out how to manipulate speed, momentum and balance to achieve the grab.

Snake Pass goes beyond the concept of being a snake. It fulfills the promise of a playable snake with flying colors and succeeds in molding levels around its nontraditional movement. Obvious repetition does set it, but at least it's repeating a gameplay loop that's wholly unique. And although those aspects are present, what ultimately is its downfall are the controls.Before I get into the game's most frustrating feature, I want to mention the beautiful world this game contains. The graphics and levels are full of detailed landscapes that would please any banjo-kazooie fan. They are awesomely drawn and the level design is top level stuff.With that said, navigating these levels is the most frustrating time I've ever had in a platformer. It also doesn't help that the camera tends to get in your way and shift erratically during times where a death includes the loss of all the items you've just collected. The controls and the camera work together to unfairly bring you to your demise time and time again. To the point where I had to stop playing because it just wasn't fun anymore.A game works when it's challenging but fair and skill takes a big role. Here, I played for 10 hours and my skill or understanding of the controls didn't help me and instead I was punished by horrible control design and odd camera placement.It's a shame because this game had so much potential but it was ruined by a control scheme that makes little sense to gamers other than those who developed the game. Snake Pass is a charming and distinctly different game, which mostly works in its favor. You won't find the platformer-without-jumping mechanics in any other game on the market. The downside is that the gameplay mechanic can quickly go from fun to frustrating. It's a game with a ton of personality, and those with the patience to work around its flaws will find a lot to like.

Overall, Snake Pass is a great platformer and there isn’t anything like it on Xbox One. Just when you think that the gaming industry is out of new ideas, this title comes along. While it’s quite simple in terms of story and presentation, the game is addictive and a tremendous amount of fun. If you own an Xbox One, you have to get Snake Pass. It’s that special because of its accessible controls.

Slithering up simple structures in Snake Pass is one of the most mechanically satisfying video game ideas I’ve ever experience, and it effectively creates a sensation that feels the way maneuvering like a snake might. The camera and checkpoint systems aren’t great, but the concept still managed to hook me for the five hours it took wrap up the campaign. And in the end, I wanted to go back and replay stages to round up all the collectibles I missed.

At times, then, Snake Pass can be a wonderfully relaxing journey through some beautiful habitats. The late game switches into an engaging and challenging puzzler, requiring some deft flicks of the left stick, but one that can feel immensely gratifying when you elegantly slalom your way over a narrow assault course that's suspended over lava. It's the middle third, when the game expects too much of you far too soon, that causes the momentum to stutter. Nevertheless, Snake Pass is a quirky puzzler that innovates while simultaneously evoking memories of your favourite platformers of yesteryear--just don't expect to grow into your new skin overnight.

A decently quick chapter…And finally air... youre dealing with the wind blowing, ultra frustrating, and this is when your bird friend comes in handy flying you across the different sections…An after you complete all of the levels for a section you unlock a time trial mode for the levels…I personally have no interest in the time trial mode, but the actual campaign is a great challenge that tested my patience for sure…Ultimately I did feel like most deaths were my fault…The camera doesn’t follow you automatically though…So most is the keyword here..The camera is an issue at times when you can’t see where you snake is pointedthankfully there’s a decent amount of checkpoints around to make it less painful…and you’ll need them.I give Snake Passa 7.5/10
